Tunes to set your Passover Mood by JCW

Andrew.jpg (38459 bytes) GILLIGAN'S EXODUS (SUNG TO GILLIGAN'S ISLAND)  [ed. note:  Apologies to George Gershwin.  Now I know why the castaways were always excited when they saw natives; since there were only seven of them, they had a chance to have a minyan]
Recline right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip.
that started many years ago in old, ancient Egypt.
The Jews were forced to work as slaves, they suffered that ordeal.
We celebrated their Exodus with a three hour meal, a three hour meal!
The Pharoah was an evil dude, his wrath would not replent
If not for the effort of the fearless jews.....we'd all be keeping
Lent(2x)
They landed in the desert after parting the Red Sea
With Moses, and Aaron too, each Israelite and his wife
A movie star, the Professor and Miriam.........here on Passover night!!

I'm not sure why she couldn't get Babulyanicks into that one.  Jan's last song for this evening is a little ditty entitled "AFIKOMAN" and sung to "Oklahoma", music by Richard Rogers.

Another song, sent to the Newsletter by Jan, is entitled "THE PASSOVER SONG" and is sung to Rogers and Hammerstein's "My Favorite Things".

Dry angel cakes that taste near, but not quite right David Squire.jpg (58894 bytes)
Canned macaroons that look good in the right light
Breads which don't rise and about which we sing
These are a few of our unleavened things.
Moon-shaped and jellied, those candies turn real hard
The taste of the cereal, like the box we would discard

Matzah Ball soup, to our stomach does cling
These are a few of our unleaved things.
When the night comes, and I eat tons, and I'm feeling fat,
I simply remember they're Psedek things
and my tummy feels more flat.

Aaaaa.......fikoman! what a very special Pesach treat.
A dessert we share, we can't compare,
So much joy from just a hunk of what!
Thaaaaaaa........t is why we hide it early on from everyone
A custom that we get, from Kosher chefs,
to convince us eating Matzah's fun.

On a shelf or hidden away
Floor or sofa, 'neath Uncle Sid's toupee.
It's too much work, to search for your dessert
Yes, I'm looking for Afikoman
Afikoman, oy, vey, gevalt.....let's check the couch!!AFIKOMAN!!!

I don't know about you, but I don't really remember any Uncle Sid or his toupee.  There's no stopping Jan now.  Given your overwhelming response, here is another song, which is not nearly as good as that Chanukah favorite "Ill Be Home for Brisket", but you get the idea.  This one is called "BRISKET MELODY" and is sung to the tune of "Windy".

What do we serve on every occasion? What will eat this Passover night?
What kind of beef just spells "celebration"? Everyone knows its brisket.
Chorus: And Brisket is quick to make, just wrap it in foil and bake
Make extra for goodness sake. It freezes well, it freezes well.
What makes a vegetarian think twice? What cut of beef do cows want to be?
What really was that manna from Heaven? Everyone knows it's Brisket.
